Planning for the trip
On a trip to York, PA fall 2005, home of the Harley tour bike factory, I got the idea to fly back to PA mid 2006, buy a new bike and drive it to Oregon via my 46th High School reunion in Michigan. After several months and several changes of direction, I decided I didn't need a second bike. I'd drive my Heritage Softail from Oregon.
First step was to outfit it for a 5000 mile journey. So Ebay provided a few parts and you can see the before and after photos here. It's just been to the shop for its 10,000 mile tuneup and we're ready to go.
